Two Creeks
Environmental Learning Center
ATTENTION SCHOOL TEACHERS!!
Keepers of the Earth Inc., announces its intent to build and maintain "Two Creeks Environmental Center" on approximately 125 acres of beautiful woodlands in Wayne Co., Georgia.
Beginning August 30, 2000, we plan to be open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday year-round. Special arrangements can be made for camping and weekends.
We will offer our visitors an exciting, memorable, learning experience around each bend in our network of trails.
From our boardwalk they will observe the dam building expertise of beavers. At our Georgia History Museum they will be provided with close look at artifacts of this area dating from pre-civilization to the present. On their way to visit a Seminole/Creek Indian hunting camp, they will meet some of our native wild animals. They will see and hear many of our local birds, learn the names of trees and other wild plants and visit 'Bear Grass' Camp, the actual location where many of Okefenokee Joe's TV documentaries were filmed. They might even learn why he calls it 'Bear Grass' Camp.
The highlight of their visit will be Georgia Public Television's legendary folk hero, Okefenokee Joe himself. He'll share his songs about life in the Okefenokee, his unusual and unique lessons about wild animals (including the snakes) and his powerful message of understanding the web of life in the natural world around us.
*Advance reservations will be required*
*Still in the planning stages. More specific information will follow.
Watch for Okefenokee Joe in "Swampwise" on PBS and Georgia Public Television.
